HVAC options for a new or recently purchased home
Start with the home’s layout, existing equipment, and the rooms that need heating or cooling. Nalk can discuss installation and replacement options in Fresno and the Central Valley.
If you are building
Bring the plans and explain how you expect to use the rooms. Ask how equipment capacity, ducts, controls, electrical supply, and installation access will be addressed. Review permits, the work each contractor handles, and final checks in the written scope.
If you have just moved in
Gather equipment manuals, warranty documents, and service records if the seller provided them. Tell the office about rooms that do not reach a comfortable temperature or a system that will not run. A new owner does not automatically need a new HVAC system.
A repair diagnosis has a visit charge. Read what a repair visit costs for the first-hour charge, additional time, parts, after-hours rates, and travel charges. The technician explains repair options and costs before you approve repair work.
Compare system types
- Ducted central air conditioning works with a home’s duct system. Its condition and layout matter.
- A heat pump can provide heating and cooling; compare the home’s needs and running costs.
- A ductless system may suit a space without suitable ducts; ask about placement and capacity.
- Zoning depends on equipment and duct compatibility, rather than simply adding a thermostat.
See ENERGY STAR’s air-source heat-pump guide for background.
Review an installation quote
Installation and replacement estimates are free. Already have a repair, installation, or replacement quote from another company? Ask about our free second quote. A request becomes an appointment when the office confirms the date and time.
Ask for model numbers, sizing, ducts and electrical work, controls, permits, removal, testing, and written warranty terms.
